The Prisoner

Here is a link to my Video. I had some trouble uploading straight onto here due to some errors on the website. I have created myself a Vimeo account so I have uploaded it onto there instead. After three whole weeks of organising, planning and creating my video, I have finally finished it. I am very happy with how it has turned out however as always there are aspects that I would definitely want to improve or change. But that always happens after the filming! I will upload a more detailed analysis of my video later on.

Enjoy!

Photos of My Final Location and Setting up for Filming

My day shooting my Video

Now that I have began my editing, I have mroe time to write about experiences that I had during filming my video and also the planning leading up to the day. Organising the cast wasn't as difficult as I thought it was going to be. Two of my close friends agreed that they would be part of it. One of them is a GCSE Drama student so I was confident that he would pull it off and the other was just a friend willing to give it ago. However, as it got closer to the date, the friend told me that he could no longer be available so I ahd to quickly come up with an alternative. Luckily, someone was available. A friend of Sams who also is a drama student, very kindly volunteered and that was finally sorted.

I had some difficulty setting up shot in the beginning, as my location inside was surprisingly very dark on the camera. But I soon resolved this by using my iPhone with the flash to make the room seem lighter.

The weather was perfect and just how I wanted it to be on the day so I had no problem with that. It was damp, grey, dreary and cold which gave a great atmosphere that fitted well with my script.

Looking for the right building took some time choosing, as there was many of them where we were. The interior of each of them were very similar and the one that I finally chose was because it showed the most light and the most sinister setting.

Overall I was pleased with how the day turned out :)

Process of Editing

At the moment I am a week into my editing and have one more week to finalise and complete it. The video is coming together extremely well. I am adding effects and choosing the music to include in my video. I am managing to use the software alot more confidentily now compared to my previous projects and can identify lots more ways in which I can make my video become alot more effective.

Shooting

Today I did my shooting for my video! I changed my location as I found it much easier and accessible. I took two actors down to Brasside near Finchale abbey and filmed in the area with world war 2 buildings. I filmed one of my actors journey walking to the building and then the scripted scenes inside one of the ruined buildings. It was surprisingly dark inside to film but we improvised and managed. Now time to edit!

Finding the perfect location!

I am still searching for the location where I will sboot my video. I have my actors prepared but still need to finalise a place that suits my script.

I have looked at a derelict buliding near Ushaw College which fits what I really want but I'm still unsure as to if I will be able to go ahead anf film there.

Here are some images of the place:

Short Video Project

On Monday we were set a project to create a short video with a script. We have 3 weeks to shoot and edit the final outcome.

Camera Movements Video Evaluation

My Camera Movements Video that I filmed, to me, seemed and was a lot harder to do in some aspects of it. There was more technical sides to overcome and it did test my ability and patience to perservere creating it in difficult times and also the weather.

There is a few parts of my video that I wish I could redo and improve.

Here are some of them that I wasn't to happy with in the final edit:

-The shot where the camera focuses on the leaf then a landscape. I would have chosen much better scenery     if I had had more time to complete it.

-My overhead pan shot wasn't to the standard as it began to rain extremely heavily and I had to shoot indoors in my own house downstairs in the hallway. The lighting isn't the best quality so I would have chosen somewhere with much better lighting to avoid grainy footage.

There was also some parts that I was pleased with:

- I like the fact that the way I have edited the scenes, they run pretty smoothly.

- The camera that I used provided by the school, enabled me to complete my video and edit so that it was at    a standard where it was completed.

- The shots in school came out well considering I was limited to a choice of places to film.

- The  surroundings around the school gave me room to shoot my chase seen and it made it look slightly          more realistic.

Camera Movement Video

Here is my video where I have tried out various camera shots. The weather wasn't the best throughout the entire week so I had to make do with it! I have edited the shots to flow together. I added audio and I also added titles for each different shot just to remind me of which is which. I used transitions in my video and the beginning and ending of the video. Enjoy :-)

Editing

As I was off school ill yesterday, I started editing my Camera Movement in my free lesson today. Last week I took my shots of different camera movements with a video camera and tripod around school and my home and today I put them together. I haven't yet finished it. But this task is giving me more time to get used to the editing software.
